REFLECTIONS

There’s a voice inside you. You've heard it before

Not the loud one that panics at 2AM.

Not the one that overthinks every decision like it’s life or death.

And definitely not the one that turns you into a world-class expert… five minutes too late.

No.

This one is quieter.

So quiet, in fact, that most of us only hear it when everything else finally shuts up.

And even then… we pretend we didn’t hear it.

The Voice That Knows (and Waits Patiently)

You’ve heard it before.

That tiny moment when you said:
“Hmm… something doesn’t feel right.”

Or:
“I think I’m meant to do more than this.”

Or even:
“Maybe I should just rest.”

And what did we do?

We responded with something like:
“Let me just check one more thing…”
“Maybe I’m overthinking.”
“I’ll deal with that later.”

(Later, by the way, is a magical place where important life decisions go to disappear.)

But here’s the thing—that small voice never argues with you.

It doesn’t fight for attention.
It doesn’t try to win.

It just… waits.

A Moment I Couldn’t Ignore Anymore

I remember a time when everything in my life looked… fine.

My days were full. My schedule made sense. From the outside, everything was working.

On paper, it made sense.
I was doing what I was supposed to do.
I was moving forward, ticking boxes, staying “on track.”

But there was this quiet feeling I couldn’t shake.

Not loud. Not dramatic.
Just… persistent.

A small voice that kept saying:

“This isn’t it.”

And I did what most of us do.

I stayed busy.
I stayed distracted.
I told myself: “Maybe this is just a phase.”

Because let’s be honest—listening to that voice would mean change.
And change? That’s uncomfortable. That’s inconvenient. That messes up perfectly good plans.

So I ignored it.

For a while.

Until “fine” started feeling exhausting.

When “Fine” Isn’t Enough Anymore

That’s the tricky part.

You don’t always ignore the small voice when things are bad.

You ignore it when things are… okay.

When life is stable enough that leaving feels risky.
When nothing is obviously wrong—but something is quietly missing.

And that’s where many people stay.

Because “fine” is safe.

But the small voice?

It doesn’t care about safe.

It cares about what’s true.

The Loud Voices Always Win (At First)

Let’s be real.

The loud voices are convincing.

The voice of fear:
“What if you fail?”

The voice of practicality:
“Be realistic.”

The voice of other people (real or imagined):
“What will they think?”

And my personal favorite:
“You can do it… but maybe not now. Let’s start next week.”

(Next week has been “coming soon” for a while now.)

So we listen to them.

Because they sound logical. Responsible. Safe.

Meanwhile, the small voice just sits there like:
“Okay… I’ll be here when you’re ready.”

The Turning Point

There wasn’t a big, dramatic moment.

No life-changing speech.
No perfect timing.
No sudden clarity where everything made sense.

And then a quiet realization hit me:

“If I keep ignoring this… I’m going to keep feeling this way.”

And somehow, that felt heavier than the fear of change.

So I started small.

I didn’t overhaul my entire life overnight.

(I wish I could say I did… but let’s not lie on a blog post.)

It started with something small.

A decision I kept overthinking…

and a quiet feeling I kept ignoring.

I just listened—once.

Then again.

Then again.

And slowly, things began to shift.

What Happens When You Finally Listen

Something interesting happened when I finally started paying attention to that quiet voice.

You don’t suddenly have everything figured out.

But you feel… aligned.

Your decisions start making sense—not to everyone else, but to you.
You stop needing constant validation.
You trust yourself a little more each time.

And strangely, life feels lighter.

Not easier.

Just… more honest.

A Small Practice (Nothing Dramatic, Don’t Worry)

You don’t need to disappear into the mountains to hear this voice.

(Unless you want to. In that case, please at least bring snacks.)

Start small:

  • Sit in silence for a few minutes—no phone, no distractions

  • Notice what keeps coming back to your mind

  • Pay attention to what feels heavy… and what feels light

  • And maybe, just maybe… don’t ignore the first honest thought that comes up

Final Thought

That small voice?

It’s still there.

Even now.

Especially now.

The question isn’t whether it exists.

It’s whether you’ll finally stop…
long enough…

to listen.

Live fully. Listen deeply. Your life already knows the way.
